Save Your Work with Git Reflog
March 26, 2026
Ever accidentally deleted a branch or performed a hard reset that wiped out some crucial commits? Don't panic just yet. Git keeps a secret log of every single move you make—even the destructive ones—called the reflog. By running "git reflog", you can see a history of where your HEAD has been, find the hash of that lost commit, and bring it back from the dead with a quick checkout or merge. It is essentially a time machine for your mistakes.
