Multi-Cursor Magic in VS Code
April 24, 2026
If you are manually renaming five variables or adding a comma to the end of ten lines, you are working too hard. In VS Code, you can place multiple cursors by holding Alt (or Option on Mac) and clicking where you need them. Even better, try selecting a word and hitting Cmd+D (or Ctrl+D) to select the next occurrence one by one.
This turns tedious repetitive tasks into a five-second fix, making you feel like a wizard in the process. Once you get the hang of it, you will find yourself looking for ways to use it in every file you open.
