Elevate Your Editing with Multi-Cursors

April 11, 2026

If you're still manually renaming variables in ten different places, you’re working too hard. In VS Code, hitting Cmd+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (Windows) after highlighting a word will select the next occurrence of that same word. You can keep hitting it to select more, then type once to edit them all simultaneously.

For even more power, Alt+Click lets you place cursors anywhere you want on the screen. This is perfect for formatting lists, adding repetitive properties to objects, or wrapping multiple lines of text in tags in seconds. Once you master the multi-cursor, you'll wonder how you ever coded without it.
